One of the Pehal trustees, Harleen Kohli, strongly believes in the learning-and-teaching capacities within theatre. So, we hope to actively incorporate "play" or theatre into our methods of teaching at Chamaru.

In January, 2022, Vijay Kumar, a theatre director from the CEVA Drama Repertory Company, head by Harleen’s husband, GS Chani, worked with the primary school children for a month and devised a street play, Raja Chamaru Singh, that addressed the lacuna in the educational system as well as governance at the village level. The play was shown several times at the school and around the village. We now hope to take it to the surrounding villages as well as to schools in neighbouring cities, including Chandigarh.
