When we started talking of setting up Pehal, in the summer of 2021, the government primary school at the village comprised of two classrooms, one hundred and four students, and one teacher along with one helper. The rest of the building was incomplete and the grounds untended. So, our immediate aim at that point was to build the incomplete portion, tend the grounds and hire more teachers. The sarpanch requested for government grants which were received, and today we have an additional two classrooms, a stage and a courtyard where morning assembly as well as other activities are held. And we raised money through friends and goodwill to hire five more teachers privately. In July, 2022, the government has sent us three more teachers. We have thus, relieved two teachers that we hired last year and are employing one of the better teachers to continue teaching during school hours but also stay back and help students with their homework and any additional guidance that they may require.
